Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos 2023

The Cathedral celebrated the Dormition of the Theotokos with Great Vespers on August 14th and Divine Liturgy on August 15th. The Dormition, one of the twelve great feasts, commemorates the falling asleep of the Virgin Mary and her bodily assumption into heaven. It concludes the Dormition fast, which runs for the first two weeks of August, and arrives with the weight of a feast that has been prepared for.
