Feast of the Transfiguration 2023: Fruit Blessing and Icon Explanation for Children

The Cathedral celebrated the Feast of the Transfiguration on August 6th with Divine Liturgy and the traditional blessing of fruit. After the service, Fr. Solomon explained the Transfiguration icon to the children, walking them through the figures of Moses and Elijah flanking Christ, the disciples falling on their faces, and the uncreated light that the icon tries to make visible. Connecting children to the iconographic tradition through the actual feast is better than any classroom lesson.
