The first Christmas Gala, and the largest group the series had put on the stage: seven musicians, with a tenor and a flute among them.

The Brahms Quintet took the first half on its own, which is a serious way to open a Christmas concert and the right one. After the interval the program turned toward the feast, with the Bizet Agnus Dei, two Strauss dances, the Franck Panis Angelicus, and O Holy Night to end.

After the music

A reception dinner followed in the parish hall, included in the price of the ticket. That has been the shape of every concert in the series: the musicians stay, and the conversation runs long.

Gleb Ivanov, piano

Artistic Director of the Concert Series

Gleb Ivanov directs the cathedral concert series. He came to America from the Moscow Conservatory, won the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in 2005, and builds each season around music the room itself suits.
