We've discovered that a sagging section of the church floor must be reinforced immediately. This is in the Northeast corner of the church, which is above the accounting room and the stage on which the children meet for Bible study and play.
A sag among some of the pews was noticed, but the severity of the sag in the hall ceiling below is what caused us to call an engineer. The sag has been progressing for many decades, but has reached a point such that it can't be allowed to progress further without constituting a negligence for safety and also allowing possible development of cracks in the wall and damage to water pipes along the hall ceiling below. The funds gathered will allow us to install long-term reinforcement to the area while taking less of the needed funds out of investments. The engineer also examined the rest of the floor; he saw nothing of concern.
