The Feast of the Transfiguration commemorates the divine revelation of Jesus Christ’s glory on Mount Tabor, where He was transfigured before His disciples Peter, James, and John. According to the Gospels, Christ’s face shone like the sun, and His clothes became dazzling white, while Moses and Elijah appeared beside Him, signifying the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets. This event, one of the twelve Great Feasts of the Orthodox Church, reveals Christ’s divine nature and foreshadows the resurrection and the eternal glory God intends for human nature in the Kingdom of God. The feast is the traditional time for blessing fruit.
Parish services will be at 7pm on the 5th and 9am on the 6th, with the blessing of fruit baskets to follow the morning Liturgy.
